Field-proven service testers from Willtek are updated to the latest technology
Ismaning/Chessington/Indianapolis, 28 October, 2003 – Willtek today launched new software for its Willtek 4200 Mobile Service Tester Series, allowing service centres to test and align the transmitters of new EDGE-capable mobile phones. These new measurements are specifically important for the alignment of the latest phones, for example after component exchange.
Willtek’s 4400 Series Mobile Phone Tester already supports EDGE testing. Its capability has now been enhanced in agreement with test and alignment procedures for EDGE phones from a leading EDGE phone manufacturer. The enhancement will add semiautomatic test and alignment procedures specific to each mobile phone type, helping to reduce the test time from 15 minutes to approximately four or five minutes – a factor of three to four.
“Willtek customers can rely on testing solutions that keep pace with the latest wireless technology serving all the stages of mobile phone service”, says Cyrille Damany, CEO of Willtek Communications, and continues, “Our products are built with the future in mind and we are proud to deliver the testing capability for a new modulation format with just a free software update”.
EDGE transmitter alignment is due whenever a component in this circuit has been replaced. The alignment is typically run as part of the repair job; service centres also perform a final test to ensure the quality of the phone before it is shipped to the customer. Willtek engineers are currently working to add EDGE testing capabilities to their call routines being used for final test and incoming inspection.
