E. What kind of signal does the TETRA option transmit?
The 4032 initially transmits a signal like that of a real TETRA base station, with time slot and frame structure, broadcasting BSCH and BNCH. In protocol mode (call set-up), the 4032 responds to registration (location update) requests and to call set-up messages from the MS and allocates a traffic channel (on the same carrier but any time slot).
In the near future, the 4032 will also be able to transmit a test signal with a PRBS pattern, enabling the MS to perform the bit error rate measurement required to evaluate receiver performance. This new feature will be provided by means of a software upgrade.
