Ismaning/Chessington, 23 November, 2004 – Willtek Communications today announced the new 9102 Handheld Spectrum Analyzer, a new multifunction instrument designed for lab and field applications around scalar network and spectrum analysis, including cable and antenna measurements and EMC pre-qualification tests. The new Willtek 9102 is the second model in a series of handheld analyzers, following the 9101 Handheld Spectrum Analyzer which was selected as the “Test Product of the Year 2004” by Test & Measurement World magazine. The analyzer and its tracking generator option will be available in December 2004, with reflection measurement capabilities following in the first quarter of 2005.
Explained Willtek CEO, Cyrille Damany: “With the 9102 and its range of accessories and options, Willtek is a competent partner for all those looking for test solutions for various applications in the field of RF testing up to 4 GHz. The 9102 comes at an attractive price and with its flexible design, can be equipped with options for a multitude of applications in the areas of spectrum and scalar network analysis. With the options concept of the 9102, customers buy high measurement precision without paying for features they don’t need.”
The optional tracking generator and reflection measurements make the 9102 an ideal fit for scalar network analysis applications, such as when the amplifier gain against frequency or the filter characteristics must be measured.
With a frequency range from 100 kHz to 4 GHz, the 9102 is a portable spectrum analyzer with a resolution bandwidth (RBW) down to an exceptional 1 kHz. The instrument not only is suitable for field measurements but also is an affordable alternative to more expensive lab equipment; with its dynamic range of 70 dB and the displayed average noise level at –117 dBm, it competes with more bulky lab instruments.
Field engineers and technicians can easily read measurement results from the 9102 even in outdoor environments, thanks to its large and extra-bright display. This luminous, wide-angle screen allows results to be viewed from a side angle. Defined pressure points on the keyboard allow fail-safe operation, together with the clear menu structure of the user interface. An Ethernet port and an RS-232 interface both support remote control applications such as automated testing or remote site field strength measurements. And with the “click handle”, the 9102 is easy to carry and easy to operate at an angle.
