Willtek Communications introduces new 7.5 GHz hand-portable spectrum analyzer |
Willtek’s high-bandwidth 9103 is designed for a large variety of applications |
Ismaning (Germany) and Cheadle Hulme (Cheshire), 12 September 2007 – Willtek Communications today presented its new 9103 Handheld Spectrum Analyzer operating at frequencies up to 7.5 GHz (gigahertz). The instrument supports many microwave applications, featuring all the typical measurements of standard desktop spectrum analyzers such as channel power, occupied bandwidth and adjacent channel power ratio. Additional measurements such as tracking generator-based cable measurements (distance to fault, voltage standing wave ratio), an RMS detector, radiation emission and RF pollution are achieved through options. The 9103 is immediately available.
Says Thomas Riedl, Product Marketing Manager at Willtek Communications: “The 9103 Handheld Spectrum Analyzer combines the high frequency range and versatility of a professional desktop analyzer with the portability of a handheld multimeter. It meets outdoor requirements from technicians in the field because the large display is easy to read even at bright daylight. And all that at a superb price-performance ratio!”
The 9103 is a future-proof solution for those with a need for general spectrum analysis, reflection measurements, cable fault finding, emission and RF pollution measurements. The extended frequency range of up to 7.5 GHz serves users in the communications industry because communication systems are using ever higher frequencies. While the 9102 Handheld Spectrum Analyzer, introduced in 2004, supports either the optional extended frequency range or a tracking generator option, the 9103 can have both features, thus addressing new market needs.
Applications covered by the 9103 Handheld Spectrum Analyzer with the 7.5 GHz frequency extension include aviation signals, directional radio, VSAT (very small aperture terminal), and signals in the 5 GHz unlicensed band, such as Wireless LAN (WLAN) and WiMAX. RFID signals are best analyzed in the zero-span mode provided by the spectrum analyzer. Willtek’s 9103 also supports a wide range of applications with accessories for cable fault finding, EMC and radiation measurements and fault finding in 3G mobile phones.
