Ismaning and Shanghai, 2 November, 2004 – Willtek Communications (China) Ltd. and T3G Technology Co. Ltd. today announced a collaboration to provide turnkey solutions for TD-SCDMA handset production test. Willtek will ensure the delivery of essential TD-SCDMA test equipment optimised for fast, precise testing and alignment of wireless devices based upon T3G’s chipset and handset system solutions. The turnkey solution is expected to become available in mid-2005, in time for the mass production of handsets in the same year.
Willtek is developing a TD-SCDMA test solution based on the 4400 Mobile Phone Tester Series. The cooperation will ensure that the 4400 is optimised for the T3G solution, allowing manufacturers to rapidly transition T3G’s handset reference design into production. The jointly developed turnkey solution will provide best-in-class reliability, accuracy and test speed, and builds on experience gained in supporting manufacture of established wireless standards.

The two companies will jointly market their solutions to manufacturers of wireless devices such as handsets and wireless data cards for notebook computers.

About TD-SCDMA
Time Division Synchronous CDMA (TD-SCDMA) was developed by the Chinese Academy of Telecommunications Technology (CATT) and Siemens, recommended by China Wireless Telecommunication Standards group (CWTS) and approved by the ITU in 1999.
TD-SCDMA uses the Time Division Duplex (TDD) mode, which transmits uplink traffic and downlink traffic in the same frame in different time slots. That means that the uplink and downlink spectrum is assigned flexibly, dependent on the type of information being transmitted. When asymmetrical data like email and internet are transmitted from the base station, more time slots are used for downlink than for uplink. A symmetrical split in the uplink and downlink takes place with symmetrical services like telephony.
